LOCATION & BEACH ACCESS

The Mark Twain occupies a rare position on Corolla’s 4x4 beach — a stretch of undeveloped Atlantic coastline accessible only by off-road vehicles, where the famous wild Corolla horses roam freely along the shore. There are no paved roads, no commercial development, and no crowds.

Direct, Private Access to the Beach — Miles of uncrowded public shoreline, reached exclusively from the estate’s own boardwalk. The estate sits on three private oceanfront acres with no immediate neighbors, giving your group room to gather on the beach or watch the sunset without another party in sight.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Vehicle: A 4WD or AWD vehicle with at least 7.5 inches of ground clearance is required. A tow from the sand costs $400+. Satellite parking (3 miles) and shuttle service available for non-4WD vehicles. Ford Expedition King Ranch MAX rental available at $1,000/week.

Air Down Station: 1113 Village Lane, Corolla, NC 27927. Reduce tire pressure to 18–20 PSI before entering the beach.

Parking: 10 vehicles on-site, all must be 4WD/AWD.

Pet Policy: Dogs welcome, maximum 3 per stay — $250 pet fee.

Check-In: 4:00 PM — lockbox code and arrival guide sent 48 hours prior. Check-Out: 10:00 AM. Early check-in and Late check-out subject to availability.

Minimum Stay: 7 nights preferred peak summer (June–August), Sunday-to-Sunday. 3-night minimum in shoulder and low seasons.

Age Requirement: Primary renter must be 25+.

A signed rental agreement is required prior to check-in.

The Mark Twain is professionally cleaned and inspected before every arrival. If anything falls short of that standard, tell us within 24 hours of check-in and we will have it corrected within 24 hours of your report. If we do not, your cleaning fee is refunded in full. Refunds under this guarantee apply only where we fail to re-clean within that window.
