Las Vegas in December: What to Do Near MGM Signature

December is one of the best months to be in Las Vegas. The National Finals Rodeo fills the city with a particular energy for the first two weeks. The holiday displays at the Bellagio and along the Strip are genuinely worth seeing. The weather is cool enough to walk comfortably. And the crowds, while still present, are lighter than peak summer.
Staying at MGM Signature Unit 701 puts you in the right position for all of it. Here is what is worth your time.
Entertainment
The Sphere. The most significant new venue in Las Vegas. The immersive shows there use haptic seating, ambient scent, and a 160,000-square-foot LED interior to create an experience that is genuinely unlike anything else. Book tickets in advance; it sells out.
Cirque du Soleil KA at MGM Grand. Connected to MGM Signature via covered walkway. The $165 million production with its rotating stage and aerial combat sequences is one of the best shows in the city. As a Signature guest, the MGM concierge can assist with priority seating.
David Copperfield at MGM Grand. Three shows daily, also steps from your suite. The 70-minute performance is tightly produced and consistently impressive.
O at Bellagio. The aquatic Cirque production is a short ride away. 90 minutes of aerial and underwater performance in a custom-built theater. Worth the trip.

The National Finals Rodeo
The NFR runs the first two weeks of December at Thomas and Mack Center. It is the Super Bowl of professional rodeo: the top 15 cowboys in each event competing for the world championship. The city leans into it. Restaurants run NFR menus, the hotels fill with a crowd that is notably different from the usual Vegas visitor, and the energy is worth experiencing even if you have no particular interest in rodeo.
If you are visiting during NFR week, book your show tickets and dinner reservations before you arrive. The city is at capacity.
Holiday Experiences
Bellagio Conservatory. The Christmas display runs through December 31. 14,000 square feet of seasonal floral design, towering trees, and intricate arrangements. Free to walk through and genuinely impressive at scale. Eight minutes from MGM Signature on foot.
Enchant Christmas. The world's largest Christmas light maze, held at a major venue each year. Themed areas, seasonal food, and a scale that earns the description. Check the current venue and book tickets in advance.
High Roller observation wheel. The 550-foot wheel on the LINQ promenade gives 360-degree Strip views. December evenings, with the holiday lights running the length of the Strip, are the best time to ride it.

Dining
December brings holiday tasting menus and seasonal cocktail programs at most of the top restaurants. Make reservations before you arrive.
From MGM Signature, you are walking distance from Craftsteak, Joel Robuchon, and Emeril's New Orleans Fish House, all within the MGM Grand complex. For something off-campus, Gordon Ramsay Hell's Kitchen at Caesars and the dining options at the Cosmopolitan are a short ride.
The full kitchen in Unit 701 handles breakfast and late-night meals without paying resort prices. Stock it when you arrive and use it.
Nightlife
Hakkasan at MGM Grand runs holiday programming through December with themed cocktail menus and special DJ sets. Wet Republic is seasonal and typically closed in December, but the indoor options at MGM Grand and along the Strip are fully operational. Omnia at Caesars and XS at Wynn are both worth the short ride for a proper night out.

Day Trips
Valley of Fire. An hour northeast. The red sandstone formations are at their best in December: cooler temperatures, low-angle winter light, and almost no crowds on weekday mornings.
Hoover Dam. 30 minutes southeast. The tour is well run and the engineering is genuinely impressive. December is one of the better months to visit: no summer heat and shorter lines.
Why Unit 701 Works for December
The covered walkway to MGM Grand means you never have to deal with December cold between your suite and the shows. The private pools in the Signature towers are heated and quieter than the main MGM Grand pool deck. The full kitchen means you control your mornings without paying lobby cafe prices.
No resort fee. Valet parking complimentary at MGM Signature. Direct line to the MGM concierge for show tickets and reservations.
